Ukhta State Technical University is one of the largest multidisciplinary technical universities in the European North of Russia, a member of the Nedra Consortium of universities, a flagship university of Gazprom. The university has trained more than 85 thousand specialists for the oil and gas, geological, construction, and forestry industries. USTU graduates make up a significant part of the staff of subsidiaries of Gazprom, Transneft, Rosneft, LUKOIL. The structure of the university is formed by three faculties: oil and gas, technological, faculty of economics, management and information technology; Industrial Institute (SPO); Institute of Continuing Professional Education and branches in the cities of Vorkuta and Usinsk. USTU has all levels of education. 14 scientific and pedagogical schools are conducting research at the university, a network of innovative educational and methodological and scientific and production centers is functioning. There is a dissertation council. The university has a sports complex, a swimming pool, an educational and geodetic base, an oil and gas training ground, a business incubator. Together with the branches, the university forms a powerful scientific and educational complex, which trains personnel for the northernmost territories of the country. USTU is the northern outpost of the Russian oil and gas education.
